Hello friends,
I am trying to raise money for Everytown, an organization fighting to get reasonable gun regulations in place to keep our kids safe. So, I am donating 100% of my commissions to the organization until 2023, at which point we will reassess. I feel super powerless, like many of you, but I’m hoping that this is one small thing we can all do to help.
Some background: I have never been an online creator who makes a big bulk of my money from commissions, simply due to the fact that, relative to many other influencers, I’m not a huge product linker. a) Because I have ADHD and it’s actually kind of tedious for me to do; b) With limited bandwidth, I would rather focus on building community and making confidence-boosting content, while making my money via my valued & beloved brand partnerships; and c) I have some personal, ethical issues with rewardstyle (the company that pays influencers our commissions) and so I made a stubborn choice awhile back to use them minimally.
HOWEVER. Linking and commission is a huge opportunity for money making– many influencers make their entire living off of these links. Basically, a commissionable link is a special link where, much like a sales person at a store, an influencer gets a “cut” when they sell a product. It is at no cost to the consumer; it simply means that instead of 100% of the item’s cost going to the retailer, the bulk goes to the retailer, a small amount goes to rewardstyle, and a small amount goes to the influencer… And in this case, my cut will be going to Everytown. My hope is that you will help me spread this list to all of your friends and family that share our goal of changing our gun laws, and together we can raise a TON of money.
A few notes:
- Please let me know what other brands would be helpful to add to this list! I’ve tried to include all major popular retailers, but I’m sure I’ve missed a few. Your feedback here is very valuable and much appreciated!
- As I make the donations, I’ll keep you posted on how much we have raised, accompanied by screenshots, via my stories and blog posts.
- The amount of commission varies per brand (and in some cases, it even varies per product within the same brand), which is why I’m not specifying how much commission each brand will bring in next to the brand name below. The range is always in flux and is hard to keep up with. Generally speaking, commission typically ranges from about 7%-15%.
- My hope is that you’ll use this as your general shopping go-to. You can save it to your home screen on your phone or onto your computer desktop. You can send it to your fam, friends, likeminded coworkers! Need a sunscreen from Amazon? Use the Amazon link below. Need to book a trip? Use the Expedia or Trip Advisor link on this page. Need to send flowers to a friend? Pull up my From You Flowers link…. Etc Etc. Just thinking to reach for this list will make a TREMENDOUS difference in how much we are able to donate together.
