I don’t know what it was about this year’s Oscars, but most of the dresses left me totally cold. The exception was Naomi Watts, who invariably wows me year after year with her fashion risk-taking. Her Armani dress with a black bandeau was an inspiring choice in and of itself, but what really grabbed my attention was her understated yet exquisitely architectural clutch.
Meet: German-born, New York-based designer Kristine Johannes’ Rauwolf. (Rauwolf= her mother’s maiden name. Love.) Made in an Italian factory, Raulwolf clutches are made entirely of plexiglass and metal. They are modern and luxurious, and with their graphic shapes and glittering or matte finishes they create the effect of carrying a large jewel around all night. These sleek gems make their leather, satin, and beaded counterparts look downright commonplace.
Evidently I am not the only one taken with the designer. Guess who else rocked a Rauwolf?
