It’s my last day in Key Biscayne, Florida (hence the slight pause from blogging), and since summertime is upon us I thought I should share with you my beach-going essentials.
My must-haves while on this trip:
Chic Beach Tote
I tend to shy away from Tory Burch, because a) leather leather everywhere, and b) everyone is obsessed with TB (in Dallas, at least, this is the case… I tend to go for things a little more off-the-grid). However, this beach tote (also available in coral, FYI) was given to me as a thoughtful gift before the trip, and I really like it! It’s the perfect size– sleek and compact design, but just big enough to hold all my beach/pool necessities… Plus, who doesn’t love a good color-block?? Made out of raw and coated canvas.
The Perfect Sunblock
Let me just say that I am IN LOVE with this sunscreen. Formulated by a super famous dermatologist whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting (my day job is in dermatology), this never ever clogs your pores and is notoriously the best sunblock option out there. My skin looks glowy and feels moisturized after application, so I actually use this on my face every day. Additionally, it is all-natural, not tested on animals, and vegan-friendly. Typically Obagi products are only available in a doctor’s office or a “med spa” for a bit more money than I am used to spending, but I’ve found it for you on Amazon here… AND on sale! You’re welcome, loves.
A Funny Beach Read
Ok let me start out by saying: in my opinion, do not read this book if you don’t like a) Chelsea Lately, b) the HBO show Girls, or c) to laugh hysterically at really inappropriate things. It’s a parody of American “Gen Y” values, with occasional pearls of actual wisdom… I said occasional! My friend and I were reading it aloud to each other poolside while sipping on mimosas, and while even I bristled at a few of the “mean girl” jokes, at certain points we were in tears laughing. Available here.
Beachy Accessories
I love these chunky, one-of-a-kind bracelets by the awesome company Kurandza! It was such a treat when they sent me these bangles and explained that, aside from being the perfect, unique summer accessory: each bracelet is handmade by women in Mozambique (southeastern Africa). The company’s mission is to empower these women to earn a sustainable income and support themselves and their families. SO AWESOME. I really do love their bracelets, too… check them out!
