I love shopping, but it’s more than that; I adore finding unique, special pieces. If it is trendy and everyone has it, I honestly don’t want it. Deep in the heart of (Houston) Texas, there is a boutique called Abejas (which is the Spanish word for bumble bee… look, you learned something new), and they specialize in the type of magical clothing of which my dreams are made. When I explained to the Abejas girls that I was vegan and didn’t wear any clothing that came from animals, to my happy surprise they didn’t seem taken aback or confused; they simply and earnestly said, “oh, thats so cool! So that includes no silk, right?” Chic and savvy; I loved them immediately. Needless to say, I loved the clothes even more… Can we have a moment of reverential silence for this intricate, beautifully embroidered jacket by Giada Forte??? I knew that I wanted to offset the jacket’s sweetness by pairing it with something edgier, and that is when I saw the pants. The pantssss. I couldn’t believe how fun they were. I wouldn’t have been as into them if they didn’t have such a relaxed fit; lets face it, if you’re past the age of 18 and you have glitter on your pants, they need to NOT also be tight. I also can’t wait to wear them with a plain white tee and delicate jewelry for daytime, and a concert tee with boots for nighttime. For now, I strutted around town collecting compliments from strangers and feeling like a billion bucks in my perfectly eclectic, animal-friendly outfit. I cannot wait to shop the vegan selections at this store again!!!
